I am a highly experienced and professionally qualified archivist and management consultant. I have run my own successful consultancy since 2003.
Effective management depends on well-informed planning and clear strategic goals so that ultimately your collections have real value to users, custodians and funders. I provide technical and strategic advice to give you the knowledge, strategy, actions and costings to advance care and access of your archive collections. I have worked right across the UK with virtually every type of archive holding body – public and private, large and small, standalone and shared. I understand of the needs of different types of collections and how they can be managed to be a real asset to your organisation.
I have a Masters in Archive Administration, and I am a Registered Member of the Archives and Records Association and a member of the Institute of Consulting. I am also very active within the archive sector. I am on the Archive Services Accreditation Committee and Chair of the UK Committee for UNESCO’s Memory of the World Programme. I am an Expert Adviser and Mentor to the Heritage Lottery Fund. I am also an Assessor and Mentor for the Archive and Record Association’s Registered Member scheme.
