Time Management Training : An introduction to time management
skills for cultural and heritage professionals

Time is a vital resource but can seem incredibly limited.  This time management course is for those working in the heritage and library sectors who want to learn the basics of good time management and thus have more control over how they use their time.  Delivered by a heritage professional, delegates will learn the fundamentals of how to make their most of their time and have the opportunity to discuss how these skills can be applied within the museum, library and archive environments. The day will cover:

What is time management?
Defining what is time management and why it is useful to you.

Analysis of how delegates currently use their time
Do you really understand how we are using out time?  Time to find out! Also, we’ll do some analysis of your general response to time management concepts.

How to approach planning
Planning is the bedrock for all time management.  This course will give an overview of how to approach this straightforward but essential skill.  Delegates will also develop their own work plans for the short and medium term which they can take away and use to apply their time management skills.

Environmental management
Does your desk undermine your time management? Is filing a bugbear? Do other people ruin your day?  Do you need to manage your manager? We’ll look at simple methods to start dealing with these time-hungry problems.

How do I time-manage working with the public?
In public facing roles time management can be very difficult because of the unpredictability and sensitive nature of such interaction. Delegates will discuss possible time management techniques.

How do I time manage myself?
Time management is ultimately about self-discipline.  In this course delegates will learn core skills that they should practice to become capable time managers. The day will finish with developing a set of actions that delegates can implement as soon as they return to work.
